New Year, Progress Update, and a Terminal. (also something about a product review that he isn't getting paid for)
> Uploaded By Galexion on January 14th, 2025so I made a terminal in under two hours
used codecrafters.io to give me goals and stack overflow to learn what I needed and copilot to figure out bug and stuff SO would delete my post over (and because humans are slow, moot point though)
this learning style / workflow might actually workGalexion (@real.galexion.link) on January 14, 2025 at 12:56 PM

I recently (as of writing literally an hour ago) finished my first C# project, a Simple Terminal. It wasn’t going to be my First Project and I didn’t intend for it to be, nor did I have one.
To be Frank, I was kinda stuck on what to actually do first, until I had left a coding YouTube Video on about some list of projects to do and their opinion on them. It was obnoxious, but I was bored out of my mind and didn’t know what to do, until they started shilling for the sponsor they had, CodeCrafters. I wasn’t desperate to do something, but the premise had struck a chord with me.
They give you the Boilerplate, Challenges / Tasks, and they check your work for you, but that’s all they do. The only Hand holding they do is giving you the tools and information you need to succeed, and you have to work off of your Expertise, or in my case, Stack Overflow for Guidance and any LLM you can find off the street to help answer the questions that made my go “This should be working, why is this not working?”, only to realize that a For loop has it’s own Continue separate from the Loop I already have.
It genuinely got me to sit down, focus, and work on something that I normally struggled to do, because I had a sense or Direction for once. I’m not saying you go ahead and buy it now, but you can go ahead and try it, because the one thing that influencer didn’t talk about was what content was free, and honestly, that part, when I found out about it, well that was the thing that actually hooked me.
Being broke, well I don’t get to do a lot of VRChat Unity stuff because of assets being paid, or not being able to invest in my craft because Courses are 30$ per month, and in CodeCrafters Case, 120$ for 3 Months, with NO OPTION to do anything other then 3 Months, A Year, or a Perpetual License. But somehow, for some reason, CodeCrafters decided to put everything on Shuffle Play.
Each Month, A different Course (and any courses that are currently being developed) becomes free for the Entire Month (aforementioned beta courses being free for a few weeks), so I could teach myself how a Shell, Interpreter, and What Ever the Kafka Protocol is, and also sharpen my skills in any language. That’s fucking sick dude. Seriously. What Isn’t sick is forcing my Retina Sensors to burn. Seriously Guys, I am not paying you 120$ for Dark Mode, come on.
Anyways, Other then that, I’d like to go ahead and say that CasparCG-Autoplay is getting ported to C# When I get done enough with Learning C# to confidently create a version of CasparCG-Autoplay for it. Knowing Some of the stuff you can do with C#, it’s genuinely got me excited to create a better version of a Program that I made using Svelte and JS.
Anyways here’s a Referral Code, They said on the referrals page that I could get a week of every course they have, and they say they will give who ever accepts it a free week of it too. Too bad I can’t stop my retinas from burning though.
Actually side-note according to this page they only thing they really do is check your program to see if it works, you could just see what they tell you to do and test it yourself if you really wanted to. still leaving that referral in though I can’t make money off of it anyways it’s just free weeks of content.
Oh, and Expect a post about LLM’s and Tool Use sometime soon, I just need to work on the CSS a bit (please don’t send the hordes after me, it’s not about Image / Video Gen or Suno, those both suck and Suno literally shot one of their virtual singers)
Disclosure:
Seriously I am not getting paid. I probably would have posted about finally getting money if I did. though, I do have Liberapay and Stripe as Donation Options.
